When Pawling Middle/High School career and technical education (CTE) teacher Zsolt Vass started working in the district in 2021, one of his goals was simple: to bring the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program to Pawling students. FFA is a national organization that provides schools with an intracurricular experience featuring agricultural education and career development in related fields. Its programming offers students opportunities to learn more about the world of agriculture through club membership and elective...

December 12th was a particularly joyous day for the Pawling Rotary Club.  At its annual year-end holiday celebration in Lanker Hall at Christ Church on Quaker Hill, the Christ Church Singers, under the direction of Toni LaPietra, regaled all with four lovely holiday selections; a delicious lunch was served to members and guests by Vinny’s Catering; and then the club, led by club president Rev. Stefan Gramenz, promptly gave away more than $13,000!  Recipients were...

Rotary Coat Drive Chair, Paula Aguilar, spearheaded the collection 252 coats for the Pawling Resource Center. Rotary's annual drive began on October 15th and concluded on November 30th. This year, collection box locations were expanded to several additional locales, which resulted in a record number of winter coats available for those in need within the community.  Boxes at Lathrop at Lakeside, the Pawling Library, M&T Bank and PCSB, as well as the Pawling Middle School,...

Co-chaired by Carol-Lee Kantor and former club president Marie DeLorenzo, the auditorium in the Lathrop building at Lakeside Park was transformed into a...

It’s impossible not to smile when stepping into pre-k teacher Karina Antonio’s classroom at Pawling Elementary School. The room hums with the sights and sounds of joyful exploration; this afternoon the students are working on various small group activities. While some sink their hands into bins full of sensory delights like rice and paper grass, others enjoy time drawing, writing, or painting with colorful ice cubes on popsicle sticks. Student Leah Resendiz is having an especially...

The holiday season is here, and it began, for some, just after Halloween. The season neatly flows from Thanksgiving to Christmas and into the New Year. Long before we celebrated the holiday season as we know it, the Winter Solstice was the celebration of the season. Winter Solstice falls on December 21, the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the shortest daylight day of the year. After the 21st, daylight increases a...

I met...
