Resource Center’s 17th Annual Fayne Daniels Walkathon Raised Dollars for Needed Services!

On September 14th, the sun shone bright as 55 walkers accompanied by 14 adorable pups (all decked out in walkathon puppy bandanas) met at a new location, the pavilion at Lakeside Park. The walking trail took in all the beauty that Lakeside has to offer and presented walking distances of various lengths depending on one’s ambition. All event participants returned to the pavilion to find box lunches waiting with delicious picnic fare generously donated by Vinny’s Deli, Pawling Family Quick Stop, McKinney & Doyle, and Sunflour Bakery.

Beautiful prize baskets from The Blue Olive were won by Liz Allen, for her enthusiastic team who brought in the most pledges, and Laurine Romine, who gathered the most pledges as an individual walker. A basket with wine and specialty picnic items was raffled off and won by Anna Kall. Music with a soft rock vibe was provided by Don Lowe, and the party continued for some time as everyone enjoyed
the weather, the conversation, the great camaraderie, and the terrific food.

Nearly $30,000 was raised through individual donations, event sponsorships and grants, in support of PRC services to families and seniors in need. Sponsors for this noteworthy event included BMW of Orange County; The Shed Haus; Thomsen Bookkeeping & Office Solutions; Byron’s Patterson Auto Body; Westchester Modular Homes; Edison Cleaners; Joseph Meunier & Sons, Inc.; Vinny’s Deli; McKinney & Doyle; Pawling Family Quick Stop; Sunflour Bakery; Great Ink Communications; Trelleborg/Pawling Engineered Products; Coast to Coast Dog Treats Inc.; Ditron Inc.; Amaxx Inc.; Pawling Corporation; St. John and St. Charles Church; Native Landscapes, Inc.; Keene Valley Lodge, LLC; Dutchess Auto Body; Ronald J. Piccone II and Kimberly M. Piccone; Castagna Realty Co, Inc.; The Book Cove, LLC.; Friends of Sheriff Kirk Imperati; Daniels, Porco & Lusardi, LLP; Monahan Laighton Foundation; M & T Bank; and Yarn & Craft Box.

Board member Jennifer Taylor chaired this event, with board members Mario Mejorado, John Rickert, Halliday Clark, Eric Gerard, and Susan Stone serving on the planning committee. Executive director Olga Brandenberger and program coordinator Brandon Dobraj were instrumental in the event’s overall planning and successful execution.

Ms. Brandenberger was thrilled with the community response to this year’s walkathon. “We couldn’t have had a more perfect day on September 14 for the Fayne Daniels 17th  Annual Walkathon,” she remarked.  “It was a reminder of how far the PRC has come and the shoulders that we have stood on that have made it all possible. There were so many who went before us, forging the trail that resulted in the success of this event. We gratefully remember Fayne this day and thank her for leaving such a great legacy.  Next year will be the 18th year of the walkathon and we hope more of our friends and neighbors will join us. Thank you, Pawling, for all your support. We could not do it without you.”
